毫无疑问,综合写作的前提是你能看懂阅读文章,听懂听力文章。而懂得基础一定是看的完全了,听的清楚单词,句子了。最后才能说懂了全文。所以第一步一定是阅读速度。在有限的时间内,你需要读懂并且记下来重点的信息。主要从以下方面着手:1,不抠词句,迅速找出main idea。找出了主旨,这篇文章的理解就完成了一半。2,借助连词,找到原因。

Eg. In the United States, employees typically work five days a week for eight hours each day. However, many employees want to work a four-day week and are willing to accept less pay in order to do so. A mandatory policy requiring companies to offer their employees the option of working a four-day workweek for four-fifths (80 percent)of their normal pay would benefit the economy as a whole as well as the individual companies and the employees who decided to take the option. The shortened workweek would increase company profits because employees would feel more rested and alert, and as a result, they would make fewer costly errors in their work. Hiring more staff to ensure that the same amount of work would be accomplished would not result in additional payroll costs because four-day employees would only be paid 80 percent of the normal rate. In the end, companies would have fewer overworked and error-prone employees for the same money, which would increase company profits. For the country as a whole, one of the primary benefits of offering this option to employees is that it would reduce unemployment rates. If many full-time employees started working fewer hours, some of their workload would have to be shifted to others. Thus, for every four employees who went on an 80 percent week, a new employee could be hired at the 80 percent rate. Finally, the option of a four-day workweek would be better for individual employees. Employees who could afford a lower salary in exchange for more free time could improve the quality of their lives by spending the extra time with their families, pursuing private interests, or enjoying leisure activities. 

你不用去抠第一段的employees typically这些词,而是要迅速找出 Main idea: A mandatory policy

后面你也不要去抠employee, alert这些词,而是去找到Reason one: The shortened workweek would increase company profits because,接着不去抠primary, benefit这些词,而是去找Reason two: For the country as a whole, one of the primary benefits,再接着当然是找Reason three: Finally, the option of a four-day workweek would be better for individual employees

 

通过找主旨,连词找重点,那么阅读文章的主旨和要点我们就全部掌握了。对于后面的练习也问题不大了。

想要综合写作得高分,最重要的是要听懂。如果你没听懂,只是把阅读上的东西都搬上来,那么你得不了高分,甚至得不了几分。听力是综合写作了最重要的部分。那么你必须联系听力。摒去托福写作,听力在托福考试中扮演着总要的角色。一方面,托福听力是考察听力能力的,其次,在托福口语中,听力也是占了4task的分值。最后在托福写作中,听力占了一个task的分值。由此可见,得听力者得天下。那么我们如何练习听力呢?

第一步,泛听。顾名思义,泛泛的听。所谓泛泛的听是指听的时候听懂大意,如果是论证型文章的话,要听懂论点,论据。那么就是泛听。

First, offering a four-day workweek will probably force companies to spend more, possibly a lot more. Adding new workers means putting much more money into providing training and medical benefits. Remember the costs of things like health benefits can be the same whether an employee works four days or five. And having more employees also requires more office space and more computers. These additional costs would quickly cut into company profits. Second, with respect to overall employment, it doesn’t follow that once some employees choose a four-day workweek, many more jobs will become available. Hiring new workers is costly, as I argued a moment ago. And companies have other options. They might just choose to ask their employees to work overtime to make up the difference. Worse, companies might raise expectations. They might start to expect that their four-day employees can do the same amount of work they used to do in five days. If this happens, then no additional jobs will be created and current jobs will become more unpleasant. Finally, while a four-day workweek offers employees more free time to invest in their personal lives, it also presents some risks that could end up reducing their quality of life. Working a shorter week can decrease employees’ job stability and harm their chances for advancing their careers. Four-day employees are likely to be the first to lose their jobs during an economic downturn. They may also be passed over for promotions because companies might prefer to have five-day employees in management positions to ensure continuous coverage and consistent supervision for the entire workweek.

这是听力的第一段,这一段里至少employee, option, affect, company, profit, economic, condition这些单词你要完全听到能反应出来。

 

Eg.

They may also be passed over for promotions because companies might prefer to have five-day employees in management positions to ensure continuous coverage and consistent supervision for the entire workweek.

 

这句话里面,至少要能够promotion, coverage, supervision等词,你才能把这句话听懂了。


托福写作—综合写作

Eg.

First, offering a four-day workweek will probably force companies to spend more, possibly a lot more.

这句话里面,精听的时候,首先你会听到first这个词,那么这个词后面的内容肯定是和main idea相关的观点,可以就意思进行猜测。其次就是force这个词,如果你听出来了,作为动词,它承载着这句话的意思,那么你就懂了。

 

Eg.

If this happens, then no additional jobs will be created and current jobs will become more unpleasant.

这句话里面,精听的时候,首先你会听到if,那么后面的内容就是一种假设,很有可能与前面的情况相反。
